Eyelid Surgery in Guernsey & Jersey
Blepharoplasty surgery is commonly performed under local anaesthetic in the clinic procedure room, but also popular in conjunction with surgeries under general anaesthetic such as latest micro-fat grafting, face-lifts, neck lift and brow lift. When carried out in combination with micro-fat grafting and skin resurfacing around the eyes the state-of-the-art treatment naturally restores volume around the eyes and provides a marked rejuvenated appearance. Eyelid surgery is a popular heavy eyelid treatment but nuanced and with a variety of options best tailored to the individual.
Some of the first signs of ageing we see on our faces is around the eyes, with the appearance of crow’s feet, heavy upper eyelid skin, drooping brow line, and under eye bags. The implications of gravity and the natural ageing process often contributes to hooded eyes, which can make us look older and tired than we are, and it can even impair our vision.
Upper eyelid surgery serves to reposition or remove excess skin and tissue around the eyelids and can also correct upper eyelid folds that come over the eye (hooded eyelids). A small incision on the crease of the lid means that the procedure is relatively quick, and the scar is hidden discretely to avoid tell-tale signs of surgery. Lower eyelid surgery, sometimes known as eye bag removal, is a simple, safe and quick procedure to remove or reposition excess fat and skin from around the eye.
Far from the excessive amounts of downtime many associate with surgery, stitches are removed within a week after the surgery is undertaken, and on average swelling and bruising subsides after 2 weeks.
