Prominent ear correction surgery in Jersey and Guernsey
Prominent ear correction surgery is carried out through incisions made in the crease at the back of the ear, and the underlying cartilage in the ear is reshaped using precisely placed internal stitches. The reshaping of the cartilage corrects the prominence of the ear and in some cases a small amount of the cartilage will also need to be removed. This cartilage adjustment is what helps reposition the ears and not by skin tightening.
The operation is carried out in our procedure room and takes approximately 2 hours, and stitches behind the ear are removed at a week following surgery. You will need to wear a bandage or a headband for 24-hours a day for the week following surgery. Following that, you will need to wear a headband at night for 6-weeks, to prevent your ears from bending the wrong way when you are asleep.
