Neck Lift in Guernsey & Jersey
The muscle of the neck, the platysma, weakens over the years and leads to bands, lines and wrinkles at the front and side of the neck.
Meanwhile the loosening of the supporting ligaments, which attach facial skin and soft tissue to the jaw, leads to saggy skin under the chin, which contributes to the appearance of jowls. Extra fat and skin can produce a double chin effect under the chin, while sun damage can add to the unwanted effects of ageing. Neck lift surgery can make a dramatic difference to these very visible signs of growing older. It can lift and improve the appearance of the skin, giving you a younger and far fresher look.
A standard neck lift requires the same incisions as a facelift would, that is behind and in front of the ear but may require a separate incision in the neck and this scar can be well placed to be concealed in the neck creases. In some cases, both facelift and neck incisions are required depending on individual requirements.
In conjunction with lifting the skin around the neck, an incision underneath the chin may be recommended to help reduce the level of sub-mental fat. Combining the two techniques during the same procedure not only allows for fat reduction, but also lifts and tightens loose skin. In the same procedure, we can join the ends of the platysma bands together, to reduce protruding neck-bands.
