Believe it or not, no one is perfect. We’re so used to seeing celebrities on our screens looking attractive and what may appear to be our idea of perfect, but even they will have something about themselves that they won’t necessarily like.

Even though perfection may be hard to achieve, there are treatments available for those areas which you may be self-conscious or even embarrassed about. We’ve made it our mission here at the Aesthetic Skin Clinic to help people feel comfortable in their bodies, no matter what condition they be suffering with.

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Sweating is something that everyone does, but for some people, they suffer from a condition known as hyperhidrosis – or excessive sweating. This generally means that the glands which play a part in the production of sweat when the body responds to heat, anxiety or exercise work harder than they need to and produce too much sweat.

Despite what you may think, 1-3 people in 100 suffer with this condition; that’s a lot of people dealing with symptoms which can be extremely debilitating, both physically and mentally. It’s not just armpits that are affected either; palms of the hand, feet, the chest, the face and even the groin are all affected by this condition.

Fortunately, symptoms can be managed with the help of botox treatments. Injecting the skin with precise amounts of botulinum toxin, the nerves around the sweat glands will be blocked, meaning that the amount of sweat produced will lessen.

This form of treatment is generally cyclic, and the majority of patients undergoing botox treatment for hyperhidrosis will need to return for further treatments to manage their symptoms every 5-7 months.

Cellulite

Smooth skin is something that we all strive for, and cellulite is one of the main pain points for both men and women when it comes to achieving this.

Unsightly dimples under the skin on the thighs or buttocks can be extremely distressing, especially when undressing or wearing figure hugging clothing. Although cellulite is most common in these areas, it can occur on other areas of the body.

Cellulite occurs when the skin and fat underneath the skin undergo changes relating to the tough bands of fibre known as septae. These bands full down on the skins surface and are usually positioned in between fatty deposits under the skin, which is why the dimples appear.

There are a variety of treatments which can be used to reduce cellulite. Based on an initial consultation, you will be advised which treatment would work best for you. As there are different grades of cellulite, some treatment options will work better than others.

Treatment options include:

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are also something that many people are embarrassed to have on their body. The majority of us will have experienced stretch marks at some point in our lives due to them occurring during growth.

Unlike many other conditions, stretch marks aren’t permanently visible and do tend to fade over time, especially if treatment is started when they are newly visible. New stretch marks will generally be pink in colour, fading to a light silvery colour as they age.

Both men and women can get stretch marks, but one of the most common causes in women is pregnancy when the stomach starts to stretch to fit a growing baby.

Again, there are many different treatments available for reducing the visibility of stretch marks, but it will require a consultation to find the right treatment for you. It is important to note that none of the treatments are 100% effective and the outcome will completely depend on your skin type, skin tone, age and even diet.

To treat stretch marks, we recommend:

‘Moobs’ (Gynecomastia)

It’s not just women who are concerned with how they look; for many men, how their chests look plays a huge role in how confident they feel within themselves. Some men suffer with what has become known as ‘moobs’ or ‘man boobs’ which is known clinically as gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia can occur in men of any age, but is most commonly found in teenage boys or older men, with the main symptom being extra tissue under the nipples, often extending out and giving the illusion of a bigger breast.

There are many reasons men may suffer with this condition; whether it be hormone imbalances, puberty, obesity, or simply old age. It isn’t necessarily a health risk, but it can greatly affect self-esteem.

Many teenagers will notice that the condition will gradually disappear as they grow older, but for those adults who are still dealing with the symptoms, there is help available which can help reduce the appearance of Gynecomastia while keeping discomfort at a minimum.

Liposuction is generally the main treatment for gynecomastia, and we offer both standard and vaser liposuction treatments, but you will need a consultation with one of our experts to determine which would be best for you.
